Research and Data Services

When your organization needs evidence to make a decision, demonstrate impact, or satisfy a funder requirement, we build the research to support it. Original data collection, structured analysis, and clear deliverables your team can actually use.

What Sets This Practice Apart

Research and data services are available to any organization with a specific data or evaluation need, whether or not that organization is engaged in other work with the firm. Organizations come to this practice directly based on a defined research question, or it surfaces as a necessary component of a broader engagement.

The methodological foundation includes composite index methodology, 50-state statutory analysis, quantitative scoring frameworks, and cross-disciplinary data synthesis. That depth informs every project and produces work grounded in scholarly rigor, not general consulting practice.

Pricing is scoped individually based on methodology, data requirements, and deliverable complexity. Project-based billing applies in all cases.

What We Can Do for Your Organization

Community Needs Assessments

If your organization needs to document what is happening in your community, a community needs assessment gives you structured, defensible evidence. We analyze conditions, service gaps, and population trends using methods appropriate to your timeline, budget, and how you plan to use the findings. Whether you are building a grant application, informing a strategic decision, or reporting to a board, the deliverable is built for that specific purpose.

Program Evaluations

A program evaluation answers the question your funder, board, or leadership team is actually asking: is this working, and how do we know? We evaluate program design, implementation, and outcomes, and we frame findings in a way that is useful for your next decision, not just your next report. Evaluations can be conducted mid-program or after completion.

Grant Program Evaluations

Federal and foundation funders often require a formal evaluation as a condition of the award. We design the data collection approach, conduct the analysis, and produce reporting that meets funder specifications. If your grant requires an independent evaluator or a structured evaluation plan, this is the engagement.

Program Assessments

Before redesigning or expanding a program, it helps to know what is actually working. A program assessment takes a structured look at design, staffing, data systems, and alignment with your mission and funder requirements. You receive a findings report and a prioritized set of recommendations you can act on.

Demographic Studies

Funders want to know who you serve and why it matters. Demographic studies draw on USDA, Census, NCES, and other authoritative rural data sources to document population trends, service area characteristics, and demographic shifts relevant to your programs and your grant eligibility. These studies are often the foundation for a compelling needs narrative.

Feasibility Studies

If your organization is considering a new program, facility, or initiative, a feasibility study helps you make that decision with evidence rather than assumption. We examine organizational capacity, community need, the funding landscape, and any relevant regulatory considerations, and we tell you what we actually find.

How We Work

All research and data work follows the Chicago Manual of Style (Notes and Bibliography — Endnotes Format) for citation. All findings are supported by data. If something cannot be substantiated, it will not appear in the deliverable.

Deliverables are produced in Word and Excel, not platforms requiring specialized software or dedicated staff to operate. All documents meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards. When the engagement ends, your team can work with what we produced without needing ongoing help to do it.
