Frequently Asked Questions
Working With Us
How do I get started?
The right starting point for most organizations is the free Rural Impact Assessment. It is a 32-question diagnostic that evaluates your organization across strategic clarity, funding architecture, compliance posture, and organizational capacity. Results are immediate. If you want a full analysis of your results, the next step is the Impact Report Call, a 60-minute paid consultation at $149.
If your organization has a specific grant opportunity or deadline driving urgency, contact us directly to discuss whether a Special Project Sprint is the right fit.
Do you work with organizations outside of Texas?
Yes. We operate a nationwide practice, delivered entirely by remote engagement. Reagan has worked with organizations in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana, Arkansas, Colorado, Utah, Kansas, Nebraska, Maryland, and Puerto Rico. Geographic location is not a limiting factor. Whether your community qualifies as rural is.
How does the firm handle deadlines?
We do not take emergency applications. All clients must deliver required project data no fewer than 21 days before any grant or submission deadline. Engagements where the client cannot meet this requirement are declined or rescheduled. This is a firm operating rule, not a general preference; it protects the quality of each application we produce.
Do you work with multiple clients at the same time?
Yes, within defined capacity limits. We do not accept an additional engagement if it would compromise the quality of delivery on an existing one. Current capacity is maintained at four retainer clients plus two active project engagements. When capacity is full, incoming inquiries are placed on a waitlist or referred to an appropriate engagement start date.
Can you work in person?
All standard client engagement is conducted by video conference or email. Remote delivery is not a limitation; it is the designed delivery model. In-person facilitation for Strategic Navigator board decision sessions may be arranged at additional cost upon request.
Fees and Payment
How does the firm handle fees?
All fees are transparent, fixed, and agreed upon before work begins. There are no contingency fees, no referral fees, and no success-based compensation under any circumstances. Each fee is tied to time and expertise, not to whether a grant is awarded or a contract is won.
This is not a policy preference. It is a core operating principle. Rural organizations deserve an advisor whose interests are aligned with theirs, not with a payout that only occurs if a specific outcome is achieved.
When is payment required?
All non-retainer engagements require confirmed payment before work begins. No exceptions. Retainer clients are set up on monthly autopay with a client-selected billing date.
Does the firm offer sliding scale fees or pro bono work?
We provide the SAM.gov registration and annual renewal monitoring service free of charge to all clients, regardless of organization size or revenue. This is the primary pro bono service the firm offers as a matter of principle.
Standard engagement fees are not negotiated on a sliding scale. The Strategic Navigator Pilot Program offers a 50% reduction for five qualified organizations willing to participate in the case study and feedback process. The Pilot Program is the primary mechanism for accessing reduced-cost strategic planning work.
The Rural Impact Assessment
Is the assessment genuinely free?
Yes. The Rural Impact Assessment is free, requires no email address to view your results, and implies no obligation to engage further. It is available to any prospective client.
Who is the assessment designed for?
The assessment is designed for organizations in Segments 1, 2, and 3: education, municipal government, and rural nonprofits. Businesses in the federal contracting segment may benefit from an equivalent scoping conversation at engagement initiation rather than the formal assessment process.
What happens after I take the assessment?
Your results screen shows your total Impact Score, profile tier, domain score breakdown, and one interpretive sentence per domain. It links directly to the Impact Report Call booking page if you want a full 60-minute analysis. We do not send follow-up outreach unless you initiate it.
Fit and Eligibility
What kinds of organizations does the firm not work with?
We decline engagements with organizations that have a grant-as-silver-bullet mentality, dysfunctional governance that prevents consistent decision-making, disorganized operations without basic document access or role clarity, or expectations of contingency-based or free professional services beyond the SAM.gov registration service.
Does the firm work with faith-based organizations?
Yes. Faith-based organizations are part of the rural nonprofit segment. Reagan has experience with churches, parachurch organizations, pregnancy centers, and faith-based social service providers. Faith-based grant applications require particular attention to federal church-state restrictions and foundation eligibility requirements; Reagan's engagements in this space account for both.
